Tohoku region of Japan is made up of the northernmost 6 prefecture on the main island, Aomori, Akita, Iwate, Sendai, Yamagata and Fukushima. This area boasts great natural beauty and an abundance of natural resources, such as delicious fresh seafood.
In this course, you will be on the trail for a short period of three days, experiencing a variety of landscapes. Along the way, you will be able to experience the beauty of the local landscape in each of the four seasons. The course is not only about the scenery, but also about interacting with the local people and tasting local products through meals.
Course Difficulty ★★★☆☆ Day 1 Cycling Distance: about 25km Total Incline 397m Decent 300m Cycling time: about 4hrs. Trail type: on road Meet at Ichinoseki Station and transfer to Rikuzentakata city. Today we will spend the day cycling around the Rikuzentakata area on E-bikes and learn about the area and how the tsunami affected the area. We will enjoy a lunch with some of the local residents. Stay overnight in Rikuzentakata area
Day 2 Hiking Distance: about 4.7㎞ Total Incline 308m Decent 356m Hiking time: about 3.5hrs Trail type: unpaved trail with stairs.
Depart hotel. Today we will hike the around the picturesque area of Goishi beach. Stay overnight in Miyako area. Day 3 Kayak: about 1~1.5hr coursekHiking Distance: about 7㎞ Total Incline 290m Decent 290m Hiking time: about 3.5hrs Trail type: mix of unpaved trail sections and some paved pathways
Depart hotel. Today we will start the day exploring on water as we kayak in the breathtaking Jodogahama beach area, before enjoying a hike around the area. Finish at Miyako station at around 14:30pm.
