- The Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route is one of the world’s leading mountain sightseeing routes, cutting through the Northern Alps with peaks over 3,000 meters high!
- It stretches 37.2 km with a maximum elevation difference of 1,975 m, and almost the entire route lies within Chubu Sangaku National Park.
- Travel from Tateyama Station in Tateyama Town, Toyama Prefecture, to Ogisawa Station in Omachi City, Nagano Prefecture, transferring between various modes of transport and passing numerous scenic spots. Enjoy the majestic nature of Tateyama Kurobe, spread out above the clouds, with ease!

Weather & Temperature
- Kamikochi is a mountain area at 1,500m. Remember: “Mountain weather changes quickly.” It’s reassuring to have rain gear. Even in summer, daytime lows can drop below 10°C, so bring an extra layer. Sneakers or trekking shoes are recommended, as many walking paths are unpaved and slopes are common.
- Drop-off points: Taisho Pond or Kamikochi Bus Terminal (return boarding at Bus Terminal only).
- Best seasons: Spring–Autumn. Bring rain gear, a warm layer (even summer lows <10°C), and wear good walking shoes.
Top Walking Routes
Taisho Pond – Tashiro Bridge (2 km / 40 min)
- Forest Course: Shaded conifer path via Tashiro Marsh.
- Azusa River Course: Riverside with views of Mt. Yake & Hotaka.
Kappa Bridge – Tashiro Bridge (~1.5–1.6 km / 20 min)
- Left Bank: Larch forests, adventurous riverside curves.
- Right Bank: Pass Weston Monument & small marsh walkway.
Kappa Bridge – Myojin (~3–3.5 km / 60–70 min)
- Left Bank: Forest trail with volcanic mudflow remains.
- Right Bank: Via Dakesawa Marsh, torii gate to Myojin Pond.
Tip: Visit more than once to enjoy different routes and views.
