Asuwa River Cherry Blossom Avenue: The highlight of spring in Fukui, with around 600 cherry trees stretching 2.2 km along the river.
The Asuwa River flows through the heart of Fukui City. Along its embankment—between Kida Bridge and Shinmeisato Bridge—stands the famous Asuwa River Cherry Blossom Avenue, stretching 2.2 km with around 600 cherry trees. Near Kagetsu Bridge in particular, large Somei Yoshino trees line both sides of the riverbank, forming a magnificent pink tunnel at full bloom.
In 1990, it was selected as one of the “Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots in Japan,” and today it remains a beloved symbol of Fukui City.
