The Experience
Japanese Umbrella-Wagasa Traditional Japanese umbrellas made entirely from natural materials like bamboo, Japanese paper (washi), and wood. They are celebrated for their structural beauty, durability, and deep connection to Japanese culture.
Mini Wagasa Making (90 mins) Select your favorite design from our collection of vibrantly colored washi papers, and create a 30cm miniature wagasa using traditional adhesive techniques. Once dried, the umbrella is carefully folded and refined, completing your work of art. You may take your handcrafted wagasa home with you on the very same day.

- 9:30 (AM Plan) 12:30(PM Plan) Meet your guide in the lobby of your hotel in Kanazawa City. *You may also choose to meet at JR Kanazawa Station. (Please let us know when making your reservation.) Move to a shop in the Higashi Chaya District by public bus or on foot
- Mini Wagasa Making Workshop (90min)
- ①Selecting Your Paper ②Use a handmade paste to carefully attach the washi paper to the wagasa’s frame. ③The umbrellas are then placed in a dryer to let the paste set. Drying takes about 15 minutes, during which you can touch and explore the large umbrellas or take photos while strolling around the town. ④Once the umbrellas are dry, you can add decorative elements to personalize your creation. ⑤Your handcrafted umbrella is yours to take home the very same day

No special items are required—aprons and protective garments are provided, ensuring that even guests in kimono may enjoy the experience with ease.
