Nishiyama Brewery’s cultural importance lies not only in its buildings. It also has a rich history connected with many writers and artists. The brewery, which has been passed down through the family for generations, has been used as a culture salon by many writers and artists, such as famed haiku poet Kyoshi Takahama. Three buildings in the brewery have been designated by the Japanese government as Registered Tangible Cultural Properties.

Journey through our historic grounds, visiting the brewery's exterior, the Chinju-Tensen well where water is drawn to brew our sake, and a commemorative stone monument inscribed with haiku from master poet Kyoshi Takahama and the brewery family.

Savor locally-sourced ingredients served on dishes Tamba-yaki pottery, connecting you to the artistic legacy. We offer a unique culinary experience blending Japanese sake with seasonal ingredients from Tanba and Tanba-yaki pottery, guided personally by the artisans themselves. This exclusive event takes place in the traditional Japanese tatami room of the registered tangible cultural property, the main house, which is not usually open to the public.
