A sacred place for Japan's mountain worship, Nikko is home to the "Shrines and Temples of Nikko," a registered World Heritage Site. On this tour, walk around World Heritage component sites such as Nikko Toshogu Shrine together with a National Government Licensed English Guide Interpreter. This is a walking tour where customers will be walking for approximately 5 km.
Taste the water of Nikko, which is said to be the best in Japan, at free water stations scattered throughout Nikko City. With their own reusable bottles in hand, customers can enjoy an eco-friendly trip to World Heritage shrines and temples and beautiful nature.
A noteworthy spot off the beaten path in Nikko, Kanmangafuchi Abyss has been gaining a rise in popularity among international visitors. It features approximately 70 statues of Jizo, a bodhisattva who cares for travelers and protects children, lined up along the gorge, and exudes a solemn and quiet atmosphere different from the temple and shrine areas. *In the winter season (around December to mid-March) and during inclement weather, etc. when it may be difficult to ensure road safety to Kanmangafuchi Abyss, the tour will be guided to Futarasan Shrine, Hondo at Rinno-ji Temple, Taiyuuin Mausoleum at Rinno-ji Temple, Tamozawa Imperial Villa, Toshogu Museum, Kanaya Hotel History House, or Nikko Botanical Gardens instead.
This tour takes a small group around Nikko City. Look forward to seeing magnificent structures and appreciating the details of intricate carvings from the Edo period (1603-1868). With an audio guide service, customers can enjoy sightseeing comfortably without disturbing other travelers even when it's crowded.
For lunch, an Indian thali meal featuring authentic flavors prepared by an Indian chef will be served. *Lunch on this plan will be an Indian thali meal. For those who would like a standard menu meal or vegetarian meal, please be sure to book the corresponding plan instead.
On this tour, a limited express train will be used for the round trip between Shinjuku and Nikko.
Nikko City is working to protect its beautiful streets through landscape regulations and outdoor advertising regulations. Buildings and signs that harmonize with the historical landscape and natural environment enhance the charm of this area. Behold unique streetscapes that blend together Nikko's tradition and modernity.
*Please be aware that for tours departing in February 19, 2026 onwards, the meeting time will be changed to 08:40 and the departure time will be changed to 08:50. There is no change to the meeting location.

- Kanmangafuchi Abyss ※ Formed by Mt. Nantai’s eruption, this quiet gorge is lined with about 70 Jizo statues said to mysteriously change in number. A botanical garden across the river offers seasonal views. ※ In winter or bad weather, alternative sites may be visited instead.
- Lunch at Fujiya Kanko Center ※ Enjoy an authentic Indian thali meal crafted by a skilled Indian chef.
- Nikko Toshogu Shrine (80 min) ※ A UNESCO World Heritage Site with over 400 years of history, this sacred shrine enshrines Tokugawa Ieyasu, founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate. Highlights include the ornate main hall, the famous sleeping cat, and three wise monkeys carvings.
- For the Round-Trip from Nikko Plan: The tour concludes at Nikko Toshogu Shrine. ※ Feel free to continue exploring the area on your own.
- For the Round-Trip from Shinjuku Plan: Travel back to Tokyo by limited express train. ※ Arrive at Shinjuku Station around 19:45 (departing Nikko around 18:30). The tour ends upon arrival.

Operation Conditions/Tour Conditions Bookings are accepted until 12:00 noon on the day prior to the tour. Please make a reservation on the system until the reservation deadline.
If the minimum number of participants (1) is not met by 4 days before the scheduled date, or due to other operational management circumstances, the tour on that date may be canceled.
Exemptions/Itinerary Guarantee: Itinerary/Destinations
- The order of the tour itinerary is subject to change due to road conditions, events, ceremonies, or other reasons. In addition, there may be times when the entire itinerary will be on foot (total approx. 7.0 km).
- Public transportation will be used to move around on this tour. Please note that seating is not guaranteed.
- In the winter season (around December to mid-March) and during inclement weather, etc. when it may be difficult to ensure road safety to Kanmangafuchi Abyss, the tour will be guided to Futarasan Shrine, Hondo at Rinno-ji Temple, Taiyuuin Mausoleum at Rinno-ji Temple, Tamozawa Imperial Villa, Toshogu Museum, Kanaya Hotel History House, or Nikko Botanical Gardens instead.
- In general, the transfer from Shinjuku to Nikko will be a direct limited express train from JR Shinjuku Station to Tobu Nikko Station (also used for the return trip). However, due to timetable alterations or operation circumstances, the transportation to be used may be changed to JR Tohoku Shinkansen (reserved seat) + conventional line train, or a limited express train departing from/arriving at Tobu Asakusa Station + subway transfer, etc. In any case, the transportation/limited express fare for the transportation route is included in the tour booking charge, and the guide will also accompany the tour from departure from Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo until arrival at Shinjuku Station.
Important Notes/Supplements: Others (Regarding Audio Guide Service) While congestion is expected at the location, an audio service with which explanations from the National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter can be heard will be available.
Important Notes/Supplements: Regarding Meals
- For the Indian thali meal, a double curry set will be served. (Butter chicken masala, coconut curry, naan, rice, salad, lassi, dessert.)
- For those who would like vegetarian curry or Muslim-friendly curry, please inform the guide during the meetup in the morning on the day.
- There are separate courses for those who prefer a standard menu meal or a vegetarian meal, so please book the corresponding plan instead. Same-day changes cannot be made.
- Allergy-friendly meals, gluten-free meals, etc. are not available.
- The dining venue for the courses with the standard meal and vegetarian meal is different from that with the Indian thali meal. Please be aware of this when booking as a group.
Important Notes/Supplements: What to Wear/Bring
- As there are slopes and stairs in areas around Nikko Toshogu Shrine and Kanmangafuchi Abyss, wearing shoes with good traction and clothing easy to walk in as well as using a backpack are recommended. (A distance of about 5 km will be covered.)
- As there are land leeches from April to November, please be sure to keep your legs covered. We recommend wearing thick socks that cover the ankles and bringing bug spray.
- Shoes must be removed in some areas in Toshogu Shrine. Please participate wearing shoes that are easy to put on and take off, and are comfortable to walk in.
- This tour involves walking outdoors. Please take measures against heat or cold depending on the season. Summer: Temperatures can reach up to 35°C. Please bring items that protect from the heat such as sunglasses, hat, parasol, neck cooler, etc.
- Winter: Temperatures may drop below freezing, and there may also be snowfall. Please participate wearing sufficient warm clothing and non-slip rubber shoes, etc.
