Kobo Jokan A modern lifestyle shop, cafe, and open workshop dedicated to Yamanaka Shikki (lacquerware), located in Yamanaka Onsen, Ishikawa Prefecture. Run by Morita Shikki, a traditional lacquerware manufacturer founded in 1909, this facility allows visitors to experience Japanese craft through all five senses.
Live Artisan Workshop The shop features a glass-walled studio.You can watch master artisans demonstrate Kiji-hiki (woodturning on a lathe).This precise woodturning technique is the defining characteristic of Yamanaka Shikki.
Cafe and Lifestyle Store The space is a renovated factory building filled with greenery and lacquerware. The cafe serves coffee and local Kaga tea using authentic Yamanaka Shikki cups and bowls.

Please meet directly at the activity location, where your English-speaking guide will be waiting for you. Access Information to Kobo Jokan： ※15 minutes by taxi from JR Kaga Onsen Station (Shinkansen) ※ It is a very short 3 to 5-minute drive from most ryokans (Japanese inns) and hotels in the Yamashiro Onsen and Yamanaka Onsen areas. ※By Taxi: Please show the Japanese address below to your taxi driver. Address: Wa-531 Yamanaka Onsen Uehuramachi, Kaga City, Ishikawa Prefecture ※From Kanazawa Station to Kagaonsen Station：About 18 minutes by Shinkansen ※Please check here for transfer plans between Komatsu Airport and the Kaga Onsen area：https://hisvisitjapan.com/en-US/product/C-0030
Important Note on Shipping: It takes about 2 weeks for the lacquer to dry. Your chopsticks will be shipped internationally at a later date. (Shipping fees must be paid on-site.)
Please Note: As we use natural lacquer (Urushi), there is a risk of skin irritation or allergic reactions. Please be aware that the workshop cannot be held responsible for any skin rashes or irritation that may occur.

In the event of a natural disaster, such as a typhoon, the tour will be canceled, and a full refund will be issued.
