CHOYA has been making nation's top class Umeshu (Japanese Plum Wine) since 1914.
At the CHOYA UME STUDIO -Kyoto Sanjo, you will have a chance to make your own Umeshu with the help of the bilingual Ume Concierge. Guidance is primarily in English, and booklets are available in English, Chinese, and Japanese. At the studio, you will... ・Learn about the history of Ume and Umeshu. ・Taste and Compare different types of Ume and sugar. ・Decide on your preferred combination. ・Starting making Umeshu by remove the stems from the Ume fruit, layering Ume and Sugar. ・Enjoy the Taste of Japan at Home! One Ume syrup drink is included in this tour!
After enjoying making Umeshu, walk to Japanese Ganko Takasegawa Nijōen for authentic Japanse crusine fits for hot summer on a riverside terrace dinning! *During month of June, July and August to avoid heatstroke, you'll be dinning inside of the restaurant.
All participants must be 20 years old or older. This is a 3.5 hour walking "assisted" tour by Kyoto Tourist Information Center staff in English. (non licensed guide)

- 11:40Tour Starts! Walk to CHOYA UME STUDIO -Kyoto Sanjo (5 min).
- 12:00Umeshu making begins! (60 min / fees included) one Ume syrup drink is included.
- 13:00Walk to Ganko Takasegawa Nijōen (10 min).
- 13:30Enjoy lunch at riverside terrace. (60 min / fees included) For June through August, you will dine indoor to avoid heatstroke.
- 14:30Walk to the station (10 min).
- 15:00Tour finish at the station.

- This is not a private tour; you will enjoy the tour with other guests.
- We may cancel the tour when we do not have at least (2) participants by 2 weeks before the scheduled departure.
- Please note that wheelchairs are not accessible on this tour.
- This tour involves walking.
- Please refrain from bringing suitcase for large bag(s) to the tour.
- You may not bring underage children (anyone under 19 years old and under) including toddlers and infants to this tour.

- You will receive a final information email from KTIC titled:【Tour Date】- Booking Confirmation & Important Notice - HIS【Tour Reservation Number】. Please read it carefully and ask questions if necessary.
- Please arrive at the meeting location 10 minutes prior to the departure time.
- Please bring a passport or photo ID (no digital) for shopping. You may be asked to show.
- IMPORTANT: The tour will start according to the schedule and will not wait for late arrivals.
- The schedule is subject to change without prior notice.
- Due to traffic or other reasons, the duration of visits at each destination may be shortened, and arrival times may be delayed.
- Refunds will not be provided if you fail to arrive at the meeting location on time (no show).
- In the event of a natural disaster, such as a typhoon, the tour will be canceled, and a full refund will be issued.
