An "Ujiko" is a local community member who protects and supports their neighborhood shrine. In this exclusive experience, you will step into the shoes of a local supporter, help care for the shrine, and connect deeply with the heart of Japanese spirituality.
Step into the Ritual: Change into Samue (traditional work clothing) and Setta (sandals), and receive a formal Shinto ritual purification to begin your journey.
Go Behind the Scenes: Join locals in caring for the shrine, including cleaning sacred areas usually closed to the public and collecting coin offerings.
Special Worship & Etiquette: Walk up the freshly cleaned path for a special prayer service. You will also receive a direct lesson on shrine etiquette from a Shinto priest.
Create a Memory: Return to the shrine office to craft your very own customized Goshuin (sacred stamp log).
※Optional Activity: Craft your own traditional wind chime using sacred hemp (Asa). (An additional fee of 7,500 yen is required per person.)
