The Experience

Mitokusan Sanbutsu-ji Temple: Nageire-do Hall (Distant Viewing Point) Perched in a recess of a sheer cliff on Mount Mitoku (elevation approx. 900m), this National Treasure is an architectural marvel rare even on a global scale. It is known as "Nageire-do" (meaning "Thrown-in Hall") due to the legend that the ascetic En no Gyoja threw the structure into the cliff face using his spiritual powers. On this tour, you will view the hall safely from a designated observation point at the mountain's base, admiring its sacred and awe-inspiring presence.

Mitokusan Kaijo-in One of the historic temple lodgings located on Mount Mitoku. Here, you can experience zazen (seated meditation) in a space enveloped by beautiful gardens and a serene atmosphere, allowing you to harmonize your breathing and mind. The traditional shojin ryori (Buddhist vegetarian cuisine)—meticulously prepared using local wild mountain vegetables and seasonal ingredients—is a culinary delight that has long been cherished by pilgrims and visitors alike.

Misasa Onsen A historic hot spring resort representing Tottori Prefecture, boasting one of the world's highest levels of radon content. Renowned for waters said to cure ailments after "three mornings" of bathing, the town retains a nostalgic, retro charm. The area is dotted with eateries, traditional candy shops, free footbaths, and facilities open for day-trip bathing.
