설명

World Heritage Site ① Kumano Hongu Taisha

  • A sacred place of healing and spiritual rebirth, nestled among towering cedar trees.
  • As the head shrine of over 3,000 Kumano shrines across Japan, Kumano Hongu Taisha exudes a particularly solemn and traditional atmosphere.
  • Don’t miss the unique black mailbox standing before the shrine's sacred tree, the Tarayō tree.

World Heritage Site ② Kumano Hayatama Taisha

  • One of the three grand shrines of Kumano, known for its striking vermilion-painted buildings.
  • The grounds also feature the sacred 1,000-year-old Nagi tree, designated as a natural monument—an impressive sight in itself.

World Heritage Sites ③ Nachi Taisha / ④ Seiganto-ji

  • Look out for the country’s largest omikuji (fortune slip) and charms featuring Yatagarasu, the mythical three-legged crow and symbol of good luck used in the Japan Football Association's logo.
  • The plaza within the Seiganto-ji temple grounds is a popular photo spot where you can capture the Three-Storied Pagoda with Nachi Falls in one breathtaking frame.

Note: The term Kumano Sanzan refers collectively to the three grand shrines—Kumano Hayatama Taisha (Shingu City), Kumano Hongu Taisha (Tanabe City), and Kumano Nachi Taisha (Nachikatsuura Town)—as well as the Seiganto-ji Temple.

World Heritage Site ⑤ Nachi Falls / Hiro Shrine

  • With a height of 133 meters, Nachi Falls is Japan’s tallest single-drop waterfall and one of the Three Famous Waterfalls of Japan.
  • It is revered as the sacred object of worship at Hiro Shrine, a subordinate shrine of Kumano Nachi Taisha.

World Heritage Site ⑥ Kumano Kodo – Daimon-zaka Slope

  • This is the starting point of the World Heritage registered zone of the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage trail, marked by the towering 800-year-old Meoto-sugi (Twin Cedar Trees).
  • Enjoy a short walking experience along the ancient stone-paved trail winding through majestic cedar trees and lush nature.

Note: The Daimon-zaka section includes about 15 minutes of uphill walking on stone paths and stairs. Please wear comfortable walking shoes. Guests who choose not to participate in the walk will be transported by bus.

World Heritage Site ⑦ Hana-no-Iwaya Shrine

  • Featured in Nihon Shoki (Japan's oldest historical record written in 720 AD), this sacred site is believed to be the birthplace of the nation.
  • Long before the rise of Kumano Sanzan worship, this cave shrine—known as "Iwaya Kumano"—held deep spiritual significance, making it a place that symbolizes the origins of the Japanese people.

World Heritage Site ⑧ Onigajo cliff

  • A massive tuff cliff shaped by centuries of wave erosion and uplift from multiple earthquakes.
  • Stretching over 1 km, the cliff features countless natural caves stacked like steps, forming a unique and dramatic coastal landscape.
  • Designated as a National Natural Monument and Place of Scenic Beauty.

Stay at Hotel Urashima in the Nanki-Katsuura Onsen area

  • The highlight is “Bokido”, a large cave hot spring naturally formed inside a sea cave created by seabed uplift.
  • Enjoy touring five unique hot spring baths within the hotel, each offering a different experience.
  • Soak in the hotel’s natural hot springs with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, all fed directly from the source.
  • Dinner features a buffet with around 60 dishes made from fresh local ingredients from the mountains and sea of Kumano.
  • All-you-can-drink alcoholic beverages (draft beer, wine, sparkling wine, shochu, etc.) are included for both dinner and breakfast.
  • Hotel Urashima is filled with attractions—including Japan’s longest escalator and two natural cave baths—making one night not enough to enjoy it all.

Room Details

  • Room type not specified (with bath and toilet).
  • You will be assigned either a Japanese-style, Western-style, or Japanese-Western mixed room upon arrival.
  • All rooms are non-smoking. Please use designated smoking areas.
