What to Expect: Meet your guide at 12:00 at JR Ryogoku Station West Gate. From 12:15, the guide offers a short tour to the legendary Ryogoku Kokugikan where you'll discover sumo's ancient history and cultural significance at the on-site Sumo Museum. Explore the museum exhibits and learn about sumo's fascinating history and cultural traditions, plus receive insider tips on how to appreciate every moment of the Grand Sumo Tournament.
The most exciting bouts—the top division matches and the dramatic “Makuuchi Dohyo-iri” ring-entering ceremony—start around 3:40 PM and continue until the tournament ends at about 6:00 PM.
You may leave and re-enter the venue once, so feel free to take a break if needed. Don’t miss the thrilling climax in the late afternoon when the top-ranked wrestlers compete!
