Zentsuji Temple is the birthplace of Kobo Daishi (Kukai), the founder of Shingon Buddhism, and stands as the 75th temple on the famous Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage. In this exclusive half-day experience, you will delve deep into the heart of Japanese spirituality under the guidance of a resident monk.
The journey begins at the Nandaimon Gate, where you will receive a traditional "Byakue" (white pilgrimage vest) directly from the monk as a commemorative gift to wear during your visit. As you walk through the temple grounds, designated as a National Historic Site, your guide will explain the profound history and the specific rituals of the Ohenro pilgrimage.
A highlight of the tour is the "Kaidan Meguri," a ritual where you walk through a pitch-black tunnel beneath the temple to symbolize a spiritual rebirth and find your inner light.
