Takachiho Gorge Takachiho, located in the northern end of Miyazaki Prefecture, is known as a stage for ancient Japanese myths. There is a cave made of rock inside the Ama-Iwato Shrine in Takachiho Village. It is said to be the place where the angry god lives in the "Ama-Iwato Legend", which describes the world falling into darkness.
Every night, Takachiho Shrine holds a nocturnal Shinto music festival in which songs and dances are dedicated to the god in order to pray for a good harvest. It is a mythological town that has inherited the worldview of ancient myths. Takachiho Gorge is designated as a national scenic spot and a natural monument. There is a deep V-shaped gorge that was formed by volcanic activity of Mount Aso in the ancient times, and you can visit the bottom of the gorge on a rented yacht.
Amano Iwato Shrine Amano Iwato Shrine is a shrine with the legend of Amaterasu Omikami. According to legend, Amaterasu, the symbol of the sun, was so enraged by his brother's behavior that he hid himself in a cave and refused to come out. As a result, the world became dark. Eight million gods gathered to think of a solution, but to no avail, until a goddess danced a ridiculous and funny dance, which made all the gods laugh. At last, Amaterasu Omikami pokes his head out, and light is restored to heaven and earth once again. If you walk along the river from the shrine and pass through the quiet mountain paths, you will see the sacred site of Tengan Kawara, where 8,000,000 deities were gathered in the past.

- If the tour cannot be organized due to weather or earthquake, we will notify you one day before the trip and give you a full refund.

- Meeting and departure address (from Fukuoka): In front of Lawson Convenience Store, 4-23, Chuogai, Hakataeki, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka-shi, Fukuoka.
- After getting off at Hakata Station by bus, subway, or JR train, walk for about 2 minutes from the Chikushi Exit on the first floor of the station.
