Oharatei is a historic samurai residence (武家屋敷) in Kitsuki, Oita, where the spirit of Edo-period architecture and lifestyle remains alive. In this exclusive dining experience, the residence—normally closed after hours—will be specially opened for guests.
A renowned local chef from Hounome, one of Kitsuki’s most popular restaurants, will create an exclusive seasonal menu using the finest ingredients from the sea and mountains of Kitsuki and Oita.
To complement the dishes, you’ll enjoy Chiebijin, a world-renowned Japanese sake brewed locally by Nakano Shuzo. Authentic Kitsuki crafts such as tsuge wood tableware and Shichitoi (traditional rush weaving) from Kunisaki Peninsula will make your dining experience even more memorable.
This is not just a dinner, but a once-in-a-lifetime cultural and gourmet experience inside an elegant samurai residence.
