On Day 1, travel to Onomichi and visit Senkoji Park, where the PEAK Observatory offers sweeping panoramic views of the Onomichi Channel and the historic townscape, recognized as a Japan Heritage site. Enjoy a scenic drive along the Shimanami Kaido, one of Japan’s most beautiful coastal routes across the Seto Inland Sea.
Stop at Kirosan Observatory Park, a premier viewpoint offering magnificent views of the Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge and surrounding islands. Visit the Imabari Towel Museum to explore its elegant European-style gardens (admission to paid areas not included).
In the evening, relax at Okudogo Onsen, staying at Okudogo Ichiyu no Mori. Unwind in one of Western Japan’s largest open-air baths and enjoy a luxurious buffet dinner featuring over 80 dishes, including freshly prepared steak, sushi, pasta, and an assortment of desserts. Soft drinks are all-you-can-drink. Breakfast the next morning is also served buffet-style.
On Day 2, enjoy free time in Matsuyama to explore Dogo Onsen Main Building (separate bathing fee from approx. 700 JPY) and the charming Dogo shopping street known as “Haikara-dori,” lined with souvenir shops and local eateries (most shops open from 9:00 AM).
Continue to Kotohira-gu Shrine in Kagawa Prefecture, affectionately known as “Konpira-san,” a sacred shrine dedicated to the guardian deity of seafarers. You will have approximately 2.5 hours for shrine visits and free lunch. The shrine is famous for its long stone staircase—785 steps to the main hall and 1,368 steps to the inner shrine. Enjoy local Kagawa specialties such as Sanuki udon during your visit.
