Begin your day with an exciting sumo show featuring former professional wrestlers. Enjoy interactive demonstrations, learn about sumo’s history, rituals, and techniques, and take memorable photos with the wrestlers over lunch.

The sumo show finishes at 3:00 PM, so you’ll have just enough time to head to Ryogoku Kokugikan for the Grand Sumo Tournament. Your A-class chair seat ticket will be provided by the sumo show staff. From your premium seat, you’ll catch the thrilling climax, including the “Makuuchi Dohyo-iri” (top division ring-entering ceremony) around 3:40 PM and the most exciting matches of the day!

What is Chanko Nabe? Chanko is a traditional Japanese hot pot dish closely associated with sumo wrestling culture. Packed with nutritious ingredients, it is the daily meal of sumo wrestlers, providing them with the energy and strength needed for their rigorous training and matches.

How to get to Ryogoku Kokugikan From Yokozuna Tonkatsu Dosukoi Tanaka, it’s about a 20–30 minute walk to Ryogoku Kokugikan. If you prefer to take a taxi, please let the staff know when you receive your ticket. Detailed directions will be provided in a handout along with your ticket.

  • Lunch will be served in order, starting with those who have specific dietary requests. Lunch Menu: Japanese pork cutlet, Chanko Nabe (traditional sumo hot pot), ice cream, and your choice of oolong tea or water.
  • 13:20Sumo show event begins
  • Enjoy a sumo wrestling demonstration by former professional sumo wrestlers, including basic movements and tori (match) demonstrations.
  • Challenge the Wrestlers! Try on a sumo mawashi (belt) or a fun sumo costume and challenge the former wrestlers in a playful match.
  • You can capture memorable moments during a photo session with the wrestlers, taken for each family or group.
  • Enjoy a rare opportunity to engage in a Q&A session with former sumo wrestlers and gain fascinating insights directly from them.
  • 15:00Sumo show events ends
  • After the event, the staff will distribute the May Sumo Tournament tickets. Please make sure not to lose your ticket, as it will be required for entry to the venue.
  • 18:00The sumo tournament ends around 6:00 PM. After the event, you are free to leave at your convenience.

购买须知摘要

For the sumo show, seats are pre-assigned based on your booking date. Depending on availability, you will share a table with other guests, or your group may be seated at separate tables. If you have any dietary needs, including vegetarian or halal options, please let us know when booking so we can prepare your meal in advance. For safety reasons, wheelchair seating is not available. Children under 3 can join for free by sitting on a guardian’s lap; children aged 4 and above require their own ticket. For the sumo tournament, please note that specific seat locations or seat numbers cannot be chosen. Re-entry is allowed once. Eating and drinking are permitted in the seating area, but outside food is prohibited. The sumo tournament ends around 6:00 PM, so you may leave at any time.

If you would like to be seated together as a group, please make a request when booking. While staff will do their best to accommodate seating requests, please note that some requests may not be possible.

Sumo Experience & Chanko Nabe Lunch Please make sure to arrive 10 minutes before the tour starts. The event will start exactly at the start time.

May Tokyo Grand SumoTournament Viewing Please note that you may need to wait to be seated if one of the following events is underway: a sumo match, a speech by the Sumo Association (on the last tournament day), the ring procession of the Makuuchi division wrestlers (dohyoiri), the ring entering procession of the Yokozuna, or the ritual stomping ceremony (on the last tournament day). In such cases, please wait until the event concludes before proceeding to your spectator seating.

There are no elevators in the Ryogoku Kokugikan. You will need to use steep stairs, and there are no lifts or assistance available for moving around. (*This also applies to wheelchair users.) Please bring your own binoculars (opera glasses) or portable radio for a more enjoyable viewing experience.

  • Admission

    • Visitors 4 years old and up must have an admission ticket.
    • Re-entry is allowed only once.
    • Lost admission tickets or exchange tickets will not be accepted. Re-issuance of tickets is not possible.
    • Suitcases and other large pieces of luggage cannot be brought into the seating area. Please store your luggage in advance at another location (e.g., coin lockers) or at your accommodation.
  • Eating and drinking

    • Eating and drinking are allowed in the seating area.
    • Food and beverages will be sold at the concession stand. Please note that food and beverages, including alcoholic beverages, brought from outside are not allowed in the Kokugikan. Kindly purchase food and beverages at the concession stand inside the arena.
  • Others
    • Please refrain from waiting around the venue for rikishi (sumo wrestlers) to enter or exit the arena, as it may cause inconvenience to nearby residents.
    • No parking is available.
    • Spectators are not allowed to watch the matches from seats other than their assigned ones.
    • Please set your cell phone to silent mode and refrain from talking on it while in the audience.
    • Please avoid obstructing the view of others when displaying cheering banners or towels.
    • Throwing cushions is strictly prohibited as it may cause injury or other issues.
    • Guests who arrive late for the meeting time will have their reservations canceled.
    • Bringing food and drinks including alcohol into Kokugikan is prohibited. Please purchase food and refreshments from the vendors inside the arena
    • Customers who are late for the departure time will have their reservations canceled. Please give yourself plenty of time.

From Yokozuna Dosukoi Tanaka to Ryogoku Kokugikan:

  • By Train (Approx. 20 min)

    • Walk to Kinshicho Station → Take JR Sobu Line (towards Shinjuku) → Get off at JR Ryogoku Station →- Walk to Ryogoku Kokugikan (1 minutes)
    • Walk to Kikukawa Station → Take Toei Oedo Line (towards Ryogoku) → Get off at Ryogoku Station → Walk to Ryogoku Kokugikan (5 minutes)
  • By Bus(Approx. 15 min)

    • From nearby bus stops (Tachikawa 3-chome → Tachikawa 2-chome → Tachikawa) → Take Toei Bus (towards Ryogoku) → Get off at Ryogoku Eki-mae → Walk to Ryogoku Kokugikan
    • If you need assistance, please ask the staff.
  • On Foot (Approx. 25 min)
  • By Taxi (Approx. ¥1,000-) Hail a taxi or ask the staff for assistance if needed.
