This is a must‑do activity for every Sumo and Japan lover!
The sacred Japanese national sport of sumo has a long history and fans all over the world. Yet many people—Japanese included—find it difficult to fully understand the meaning behind the bouts and the rituals involved. In this program, former professional sumo wrestlers will explain everything in English, making the world of sumo accessible and engaging. Guests will even have the chance to challenge a wrestler in a fun, friendly match.
After enjoying lunch—Tonkatsu Bento (pork cutlets) and Chanko Nabe, a Japanese-style hot pot prepared by the wrestlers themselves—you will watch the powerful sumo demonstration, take part in the hands-on sumo experience, and enjoy a photo session with the wrestlers.
This activity offers a unique opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of sumo, interact with real wrestlers up close, and appreciate the true spirit of Japan’s national sport.
