Experience the spiritual heart of San’in, Japan’s largest sand dunes, and a lakeside hot spring stay with natural flowing onsen on this 2-day journey from Osaka.
This 2-day San’in journey takes you to some of western Japan’s most scenic and spiritual destinations.
On Day 1, explore the magnificent Tottori Sand Dunes, stretching 2.4 km north to south and 16 km east to west, with height differences of up to 90 meters. Enjoy a walk through this natural wonder and free time for lunch.
Continue to Hakuto Shrine, a sacred site connected to the ancient Japanese myth “The White Rabbit of Inaba.” This charming shrine is associated with Japan’s oldest love story and is known as a matchmaking power spot. Cute rabbit-themed charms and goshuin stamps are especially popular.
Stroll through the Kurayoshi Shirakabe Dozogun district, where white-walled storehouses and traditional townhouses from the Edo and Meiji periods line the Tamagawa River. The preserved historical streetscape creates a nostalgic atmosphere designated as an Important Preservation District for Traditional Buildings.
In the evening, stay at Sennen-tei in Hawaii Onsen. Relax in the open-air bath overlooking Lake Togo, where the sense of unity between the lake and the bath creates a truly special experience.
Enjoy a kaiseki dinner featuring a comparison tasting of Tottori Wagyu beef steak and Daisen pork soy milk hot pot.
