• The Alpine Route is a spectacular mountain route connecting Toyama and Nagano prefectures.

Kamikochi Highlights & Walking Tips

Weather & Temperature

• Kamikochi is a mountain area at 1,500m. Remember: “Mountain weather changes quickly.” It’s reassuring to have rain gear. Even in summer, daytime lows can drop below 10°C, so bring an extra layer. Sneakers or trekking shoes are recommended, as many walking paths are unpaved and slopes are common.

• Drop-off points: Taisho Pond or Kamikochi Bus Terminal (return boarding at Bus Terminal only).
• Best seasons: Spring–Autumn. Bring rain gear, a warm layer (even summer lows <10°C), and wear good walking shoes.

Top Walking Routes

1. Taisho Pond – Tashiro Bridge (2 km / 40 min)

   • Forest Course: Shaded conifer path via Tashiro Marsh.
   • Azusa River Course: Riverside with views of Mt. Yake & Hotaka.

2. Kappa Bridge – Tashiro Bridge (~1.5–1.6 km / 20 min)

   • Left Bank: Larch forests, adventurous riverside curves.
   • Right Bank: Pass Weston Monument & small marsh walkway.

3. Kappa Bridge – Myojin (~3–3.5 km / 60–70 min)

   • Left Bank: Forest trail with volcanic mudflow remains.
   • Right Bank: Via Dakesawa Marsh, torii gate to Myojin Pond.

Tip: Visit more than once to enjoy different routes and views.
