The Experience
- The Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route The Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route is one of the famous mountain sightseeing routes that goes through the Northern Japan Alps, often referred to as the "Roof of Japan." This spectacular route connects Tateyama in Toyama Prefecture and Ogizawa in Nagano Prefecture.
- Kurobe Dam Kurobe Dam is a monumental structure that serves as one of the most famous highlights along the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route. It is famous for its massive scale, impressive engineering, and and beautiful arch structure. The Sightseeing Water Discharge (from late June to mid-October) is a grand spectacle, releasing over 10 tons of water per second.
- Unique and unusual transportations -Tateyama Ropeway This is one of the most exciting segments of the Alpine Route, known for its incredible views and unique design.
- Tateyama Highland Bus You can enjoy the changing scenery from the bus window. The buses are hybrid buses or the latest clean diesel buses, which reduce exhaust emissions.
- Kurobe cable car This cable car runs on a steep slope. In order to protect the environment and prevent snow damage, it is the only cable car in Japan that is entirely underground.
- Shogawa Gorge sightseeing boat The Shogawa Gorge Sightseeing Boat operates through the beautiful scenery surrounded by nature. This sightseeing boat tours the Shogawa Gorge, which has been designated a prefectural park.
- Gokayama Ainokura The Ainokura Gassho-style Village, a World Heritage Site, is a place where you can feel soothed by the nostalgic beauty of Japan's original landscape. This precious and beautiful village, lined with gassho-style houses from approximately 100 to 350 years ago, preserves Gokayama's historical scenery to this day.
- Toyama Glass Art Museum Toyama Glass Art Museum, a symbolic museum in Toyama, a city thriving with glass art, is located within the TOYAMA KIRARI complex, a complex designed by world-renowned architect Kengo Kuma.
