~Information on 75 Gokakusan Tanjoin Zentsuji~ 　Together with Kyoto’s Toji temple and Wakayama's Koyasan, Zentsuji Temple is a central temple of the Shingonshu sect of Buddhism. The temple was constructed at the site of the famous Monk, Kukai's birthplace. This temple is number 75 on the Shikoku 88 temple pilgrimage (making the pilgrimage to all 88 temples will get rid of bad luck, and grant your wishes), and many henro-san (pilgrims) visit here. The spacious grounds have 45,000 square meters of land, and is dividing into the East and West section. To-in (East section) has a 5-tiered pagoda height of 43 meters, built in classic Japanese Buddhist architectural style. Sai-in (West section) has the Treasure Hall, which houses the National Treasure Kondoshakujoto (the implements carried by Monks when they are in training). Inn addition to an exhibit, there are approximately 20,000 items of cultural importances will be displayed.

~Information on Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgramage~ The Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgramage is one of the few circular-shaped pilgrimages in the world. It includes 88 “official” temples and numerous other sacred sites where Kukai (Kōbō Daishi) is believed to have trained or have spent time during the 9th Century. If walked, the entire route is about 1,200 kilometers long which allows one to experience the abundant natural surroundings of Shikoku and opportunities to mingle with locals.
